Living life “ON FIRE!”
The other day I was playing the board game SEQUENCE with my in-laws and husband. Now if you haven’t played this game yet, you HAVE to!
I am totally addicted to it and have gotten all my close friends addicted to it too.
I’m not going to get into how it’s played here in this post because it isn’t relevant to what I want to share but what I will say is that “trash talking” or psyching out your opponents is a big part of it.
Now, my in-laws are from Brazil and don’t speak fluent English so when they play, they speak Portuguese with my husband. I don’t speak fluent Portuguese so when it came to “trash talking” I was totally oblivious to what was being said.
So, when we were playing the other day, I was seriously dominating the board and totally ON FIRE! What I realized was that I wasn’t getting psyched out by the shit talking and was really able to focus on MY plays, MY moves and where I was going next.
It was such a cool, clear example of the power of my own thoughts and the effect they have on my progress and confidence.
This made me think about how this might be showing up other ways in my life and business. A lot of time the shit talking is FROM me TO me…in my own head. What I like to call my Inner-Drill Sargent.
I see this often show up as I authentically put myself out there especially when creating something new like content for my business.
I caught myself trying to do the trash talking to myself before anyone else had a chance to, then psyching myself out from sharing it or sometimes even creating it.
I thought about how many ideas had gone uncreated because if this.
This helped me realize that I want to play my life and business the same way I played that game, ON FIRE, creating from a space of oblivion to the Inner-Drill Sargent which allows me to stay on MY game, dominating the “playing board”.
So where does this show up in your own life and/or business?
As you move throughout your day, try and notice when you talk trash to yourself or psych yourself out when creating something new and play with how you can stay oblivious to those negative thoughts.
Maybe your Inner-Drill Sargent speaks a foreign language you don’t understand or it sounds like the teacher from Charlie Brown “Wah Wa Wa Wah Wa Wa”.
Maybe you say “thank you, but no thank you” politely.
If you’re ready to stop trash talking yourself and live your life ON FIRE leave me a fire emoji below!!!!
Much Love,
